British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario issue Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP) ITAs| February 2023

Canadian Provincial Nomination Programs (PNPs) mainly account for more than 100,000 Permanent admissions yearly.  This gives every province/ territory an advantage to select and bring in it’s immigrants, PNPs allows them to meet their economic and labor market needs.  Since its introduction in 1998, the number of PNP admissions has increased steadily, and it is considered an effective tool for promoting urban development in the provinces and territories.

Although most of the PNPs are managed via Express Entry, some PNPs streams for various provinces are managed outside of the Express Entry and applicants can complete the applications completely through the province. How one will apply depends on which Provincial Nominee Program stream they are applying to. Applicants might need to apply using the non-Express Entry process, or through Express Entry.

Provinces set their own eligibility criteria to address their specific needs.

For all streams though, one has to get nominated by the Province or Territory they wish to settle in to apply for PR.

Upon nomination, applicants can apply for Canadian Permanent Residence and have an obligation to settle in the provinces that nominated them.
